Paddle Tennis
It might have a funny name, but it's regarded by many as a serious sport and is huge in Argentina, Mexico and Spain, and developing rapidly in the USA. So, what is it?
Paddle Tennis is played on a court one third of the size of a normal tennis court, and has a low net across the middle. The court is enclosed by four exceptionally strong glass walls, off which the ball is permitted to bounce. The ball itself is a standard tennis ball, but the rackets are short solid bats without strings, rather like a large table tennis racket.
The best part is that it's remarkably quick to become proficient at the game, even for absolute beginners. This is one of the key reasons why the Harbour Club recently installed the first Paddle Tennis Court in the country.
Introductory sessions, group and individual coaching available.
